About The HAMI Project
THE HAMI MISSION
is to create a culture of unity that embraces diversity, encourages inclusivity, and enables equality.
Together, we are HAMI!
THE HAMI FAMILY
Hafa Adai and welcome to the HAMI family! We are a veteran owned and family oriented small business with a belief in the potential for this project. We strive to showcase and share with the world our belief that we can achieve unity by embracing the diversity of each person, encourage the inclusion of all people, and consistently pushes to enable equality in our community. Our mission is to create a culture that focuses and embodies this to the core.
Growing up on the island of Guam, we were exposed to a culture of hospitality and respect for all people. We were always encouraged to see people for their character and not for what made them different. Through the military (both as a member and as a dependent), we met a diverse group of people that showed us the same kind of respect. As we traveled and met new people, we were further exposed to amazing people with amazing life experiences and perceptions. Our journey has been interesting and while we've learned so much, we continue to learn each day that we are on this Earth.
We want you all to know that you are a part of the HAMI family.
THE HAMI BRAND
Inspired by the CHamoru pronoun “Hami” (meaning “we or us”), The HAMI Project (or the HAMI brand) was born from the desire to do more and the idea of sharing the love, hospitality, community spirit, and respect that we learned from our upbringing on Guam and our CHamoru culture. By planting the HAMI project seed, it is our hope to create a culture and build a following that revolves around our core mission.
The HAMI Brand is intended to be a lamplight against the chaos and confusion of the world. By purchasing, wearing, and advertising the HAMI brand, it is our hope that others will see this and recognize your willingness to listen, learn, educate, and grow.
As a small business starting from the ground, we are growing and learning, remaining focused on fulfilling our mission statement. Currently, we operate our website and produce our products directly out of our home in southern New Mexico (YES, we design and print our own garments from our apparel print business, JamianDae Design & Apparel). Our initiatives are small for now but as we grow, so will our goals.
THE HAMI CONTRIBUTIONS
We started this project knowing that we had a purpose bigger than just selling apparel. With our potential, we want to use this as motivation and momentum as in our growth and our contributions to the community. It is our intent to develop a program that will allow us to donate portions of our proceeds to charities and organizations that align with our mission. Please look out for our newsletters and updates as we develop this and more information becomes available.
